Data about Lincolnshire's economy and business conditions

Employment by Broad Industrial Group

This data uses a national employer survey to show numbers and percentages of people employed in jobs in industries in each broad industrial group. Data is shown for Lincolnshire and Districts, and also for smaller areas (such as Wards, and Lower super output areas (LSOAs from the 2011 Census)). Some limitations of the dataset are that figures for small areas (Wards and LSOAs) exclude employees in farm agriculture (Standard Industrial Classification subclass 01000). The figures include businesses registered for PAYE but not for VAT. Values may be rounded and low numbers suppressed (particularly at smaller geographies) so numbers may not tally precisely with figures for larger areas. Figures are shown for the most recent year available, although these are provisional and may be subject to later revision by ONS. This data is based on the ONS Business Register and Employment Survey (BRES, open access) sourced from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) Nomis website. More detailed breakouts of Standard Industrial Classifications are available from the Source weblink. This dataset is updated annually

Gross Value Added (GVA)

Gross Value Added measures the value generated in the production of goods and services. It is one measure of overall economic performance. This dataset shows Gross Value Added at current basic prices (which include the effects of inflation), in Pounds (£). The measure shown is Balanced GVA, that is GVA(B). The data shows the total annual GVA(B) figure in billions of pounds, and then as pounds per head. Another figure is also included in the dataset, showing GVA(B) in pounds per head as a percentage of the equivalent UK figure. The most recent year's data is normally provisional, with finalised data being shown in the next year's update. Data that is provisional is indicated within the dataset. Historical data is subject to revision. This data is updated annually. For more information about the GVA(B) data and its methodology, please refer to the source link to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

Business Demography

Business demography data counts numbers of active businesses with turnover or employment in a reporting year. It also indicates numbers of new businesses (business births) and numbers of businesses terminated (business deaths) during the reporting year. Numbers and percentages of businesses that were newly created during years leading up to the latest reporting year, and which were still surviving, are also shown. When using the data, comparative business birth or death rates may be constructed adhoc if needed, by dividing the number of births or deaths by the number of active businesses. Please note that due to being required early in the reporting cycle, numbers of business deaths are provisional and may be subject to later revision. For more information about the dataset and its methodology, see the source link. Source: Office for National Statistics (ONS)

Gross Disposable Household Income (GDHI)

Gross Disposable Household Income (GDHI) is the amount of money an individual person has left for saving or spending after expenditure associated with income (such as taxes and social contributions, property ownership and future pension provision). GDHI estimates are shown in current prices (which include the effects of inflation), in Pounds (£). The data is at Lincolnshire and district levels. It shows the total annual GDHI figure in billions of pounds, and as pounds per head of population, and as a percentage of UK pounds per head. The most recent year's data is normally provisional, with finalised data being shown in the next year's update. Data that is provisional is indicated within the dataset. Historical data is subject to later revision by ONS. This data is updated annually. For more information about the GDHI data and its methodology, please refer to the source link to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
